Francisco Calderón is a Venezuelan software engineer, entrepreneur, and educator with a strong focus on Bitcoin and open-source technologies. He has extensive experience in web and mobile development, including technologies like Rust, NodeJS and React Native.
A passionate advocate for decentralization and financial freedom, Calderón has become a prominent figure in the Bitcoin and Lightning Network ecosystem. In 2021, he was awarded a scholarship by Fulgur Ventures to contribute to the development of RGB, a smart contract system for Bitcoin. His work in this area aims to enhance the capabilities of the Bitcoin network without compromising its core principles.
Furthering his impact, Calderón received a grant from the Human Rights Foundation (HRF) for his project, @lnp2pBot. This tool facilitates peer-to-peer (P2P) trading of Bitcoin over the Lightning Network, offering a more private and censorship-resistant way for individuals to exchange value, particularly in regions with restrictive financial systems. He is also the creator of Mostro, another P2P tool.
Before dedicating his work to the Bitcoin space, Calderón was an active member of the free software movement in Venezuela. He later relocated to Argentina, where he continues to develop solutions that empower individual sovereignty.
