Andy Chambers is a Canadian born Production Designer who spent years creating TV commercials in Vancouver, BC. In 2014, he visited El Salvador for the first time and instantly fell in love—with the waves, the people, and the raw creative energy of the coast. In 2020, Andy made the decision to stay in El Salvador permanently. Since then, he's helped launched several successful ventures, including several Airbnb properties, Mike Peterson's popular Bitcoin Podcast, Ecoriders, an electric dirt bike tour company and a small, joyful "kiddie school", all in El Zonte. Recently, with the support and encouragement of the community, Andy has created Playa Vida Learning. Playa Vida Learning is a bilingual, holistic, project based learning center and community space designed for the families of coastal El Salvador. Rooted in creativity, sustainability, and shared responsibility, Playa Vida offers a forward-thinking education for children ages 4–14, while also functioning as a community gathering space for workshops, events, and adult learning. The initial phase, which opened in September 2025, is a smaller version of the project with limited capacity—providing a more intimate setting for early families. The second phase, with future funding, is designed to expand the facility to accommodate up to 75 students in thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor learning environments. Playa Vida Learning honors decentralized education by empowering families and communities to shape learning beyond rigid institutional frameworks. Unlike traditional education, this approach nurtures creativity, sovereignty, and collaboration—laying the foundation for future generations to thrive with adaptability, purpose, and shared responsibility.
